Heathcote Health Graduate Nurse Program 2022

Heathcote is situated 50 km (40 min drive) east of Bendigo via the McIvor Highway.

Heathcote Hospital was established in 1859, is an innovative public and commonwealth funded rural provider of Acute, Emergency, Residential Aged Care and Community Care services.

Our services include:

  • Acute Ward with 8 Acute beds, 1 Transition Care bed and 2 bed Urgent Care Centre
  • 42 Aged Care beds including 30 Hostel and 12 Nursing Home
  • Community & District Nursing Service
  • Nurse Practitioners on-site
  • RIPERN model of care for Urgent Care

Our busy health service has a 42-bed Aged Care facility and we take pride in providing ensuring a high level of quality, safety and resident focus in all activities.

This Role

Heathcote Health is seeking applications from Health Care Workers to join the team on a permanent part time basis. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and be committed to providing high quality services. The applicant must have a Certificate III in Aged care and have knowledge of aged care standards. Good communication skills and commitment to positive working relationship is also essential.

This Role

Heathcote Health is looking to appoint a Project Manager for a fixed term (part-time) role within a Nurse Practitioner-led Disability model of care. This exciting position forms a key part of a project that aims to develop, implement, and evaluate a Nurse-Practitioner-led outreach disability model of care across the Greater Bendigo area that will include the development of COVID-19 care pathways. Primary goals for this model of care are to improve the coordination of services, increase access to primary health care assessments and screening, early identification of issues, prevention of functional decline and exacerbation of existing physical and psychosocial issues for people with a disability.

This roles primary functions include the initiation and coordination of a Project Advisory Committee, collection of data, monitoring of performance against KPI’s and performance reporting. This role would suit a person with previous project management experience and a good knowledge of the disability sector. The ability to meet deadlines, work autonomously and an eye for detail are key attributes required for this role.

This Role
Heathcote Health is looking to appoint a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) for a fixed term part-time role within a Nurse Practitioner-led Disability model of care. This exciting position forms a key part of a project that aims to develop, implement, and evaluate a Nurse-Practitioner-led outreach disability model of care across the Greater Bendigo area that will include the development of COVID-19 care pathways. Primary goals for this model of care are to improve the coordination of services, increase access to primary health care assessments and screening, early identification of issues, prevention of functional decline and exacerbation of existing physical and psychosocial issues for people with a disability.
This role would suit an experienced registered nurse, with excellent patient assessment and communication skills, with the ability to think critically about complex clinical scenarios. Opportunity exists for upskilling into a supported Nurse Practitioner Candidacy if the applicant is interested. Current nurse practitioners and medical officers at Heathcote Health will provide clinical support and mentoring.
Whilst undertaking the project, Heathcote Health will explore ongoing funding opportunities to offer ongoing employment/Candidacy.
