RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE

The Heathcote Health Aged Care Facility accomodates up to 42 residents with a variety of care needs from respite, low and high care. Our aim is to provide high quality compassionate care to the older people in our community with a continuity of care in a familiar environment.

All residents are cared for while maintaining a high degree of independence, privacy and dignity.Residents can enjoy the surrounding gardens or participate in one of the activities provided via the Heathcote Health activity program. This varied program has been designed for resident involvement and interest, and can be altered to cater for individual resident needs.

We continue to provide our residents with greater access to a variety of Allied Health services as they are required. We have 3 Doctors who provide our Aged Care Residents with excellent medical consultation and the afterhours service of the Acute Hospital.

ACUTE & URGENT CARE SERVICE

Heathcote Health operates a 9 bed Acute inpatient unit and an Urgent Care Centre. The departments offer exceptional care options to the residents and visitors of Heathcote, providing assistance for all urgent health care needs.

The departments have an advanced life support accredited registered nurse available 24 hours a day – 7 days a week. Doctors from the collocated Heathcote Primary Health clinic provide support during the week and are available on call, after hours.

Heathcote Health has a close working relationship with the GP’s, local paramedics and Bendigo Health. These relationships have been fostered through various network groups and the development of policies based on co-ordinated care and combined training.

SUPPORT SERVICES

The Support Services team at Heathcote Health is a flexible and professional team of staff whose responsibilities cover a wide range of services including catering, cleaning, laundry as well as maintenance and infrastructure.

The team is fortunate to have volunteers to assist in the maintenance of the garden and grounds.

COMMUNITY CARE

Heathcote Health provides the following group of services in the local community and surrounding district within the City of Greater Bendigo boundary:

  • District nursing – seven days per week
  • Personal care – seven days per week
  • Respite care – five days per week
  • General homecare – five days per week
  • Home maintenance – five days per week
  • Meals on wheels – five days per week (frozen meals for weekends)
  • Planned activity groups (PAG) – three days per week

The Heathcote Health Community program is funded by Home and Community Care (HACC) and the City of Greater Bendigo. Referrals are accepted from self, families, Doctors, hospitals and other health professionals. An initial need assessment is carried out within 48 hours of receiving referral and then admitted into our local services.

Referrals are also made to the wider health care network for example, to the Rural Health Team which is based in Bendigo provides a home visiting service to the Heathcote community for occupational therapist, physiotherapist, and dietetics.
