ABORIGINAL/FIRST NATION PEOPLE ARTWORK FOR HEATHCOTE HEALTH

January - 08, 2021

Expressions of interest are being sought to provide Heathcote Health with Aboriginal/First Nation People Artwork.

Heathcote Health is located on Taungurung land and we are looking to commission an indigenous artist to produce art that is welcoming to all people, particularly First Nation people, through an expression of interest (EOI) process.

The Heathcote Health Aboriginal Advisory Committee; made up of Heathcote Health Executive/Staff, DHHS representative, BDAC representative & Taungurung Land & Water Council representative, have agreed that the artwork should reflect: ‘that in conjunction with cultural awareness training for Heathcote Health staff and volunteers, Aboriginal Artwork can assist Heathcote Health to create a welcoming environment, that is respectful and safe for Aboriginal people to self-identify’.

  • The theme of the artwork could be a topic relating to health or local environment.
  • At least one of these surfaces would be outdoors, for easily identifiable indication of the welcoming, respectful and safe environment at Heathcote Health. Art space 3 would be of a permanent nature, painted (or other medium as required) directly on surfaces that can be adequately maintained. Other art is of a removable or portable nature.
  •  Art should be suitable and appropriate to be displayed inside and outside a public building; outdoor welcome sign, interior walls in the Access & Support Hub, Meeting Room walls, etc
  •  The artist must agree to transfer exclusive ownership of the intellectual property in the property to Heathcote Health and must sign a license for Heathcote Health to use the work. The artist will be acknowledged where possible on materials and artworks.
  • A budget of up to $6000.00 is available in total for the 5 art spaces. (See attachment – Appendix 1 – showing photos and dimensions of art spaces)

Members of the Heathcote Health Aboriginal Advisory Committee would make up a panel for consideration of the applications submitted in response to the EOI to ensure there are fair, equitable and impartial opportunities for all applicants and to ensure authenticity of artworks/artists.

To make further enquiry or for more information about the art spaces please email Michelle Chapman mchapman@heathcotehealth.org or call 5431-0900

If you wish to view the art spaces COVID-19 restrictions apply.

EOI’s will be accepted via a letter or email by close of business: Friday 29th January 2021

All EOI’s are to be forwarded marked “Confidential – Aboriginal Art Work EOI” to Michelle Chapman, Executive Assistant, Heathcote Health, 39 Hospital Street, Heathcote, 3523 or mchapman@heathcotehealth.org
