The Virtual Dementia Friendly Rural Communities (Verily Connect) Project was launched on 17 October 2018 with the aim of improving support for carers of people living with memory loss and dementia. The Verily Connect Project includes video conferencing, a specially designed website and smartphone app, and help provided by local volunteers in using technology. This month’s issue looks at Thunderstorm Asthma. Thunderstorm Asthma is thought to be triggered by a unique combination of high grass pollen counts and a certain type of thunderstorm. For people who have asthma or hay fever this can cause severe asthma symptoms, making it difficult to breathe.
